Patch 15.13
Yorick
Base Armor decreased.
Our Yorick changes last patch succeeded in re-introducing some more choice into his first slot but failed to strip out as much power as we wanted to. This patch we're continuing to nerf his early strengths in order to give more champions room to fight back against him before completed items come online.
Patch 15.12
Yorick
Mist Walker bonus attack speed adjusted. Q damage decreased.
We’re taking aim at Yorick’s late-laning phase spike this patch, where he quickly becomes unassailable until eventually falling off a cliff. We’re reducing the power of this early power spike and lightly returning some of that power into his Mist Walkers very late into the game.
Patch 15.9
Yorick
Mist Walker damage from monsters decreased.
Another patch, another Yorick change! Look, we’re just going for thematically resonant changes at this point. After all, he can’t die. We’re looking to reduce his power level in the jungle a little, as he’s still a bit overboard in that role.
Patch 15.8
Yorick
Passive monster damage taken and damage to monsters increased. E damage formula adjusted. R mark only affects champions.
While last patch's Yorick update was largely successful at giving Yorick more access to his Mist Walkers and a fighting chance in the early lane, it also managed to significantly skew him toward the jungle, where he's really overperforming. This follow-up patch is intended to give us better jungle-vs-lane levers so that we can tune him for his separate roles more effectively. We expect these changes to be somewhat power down for jungle Yorick and mostly neutral for his top lane gameplay.
Patch 15.7
Yorick
Large adjustments to Yorick.
We're delivering a large-scale update to Yorick this patch with two primary goals. First, we'd like to make Yorick better for Yorick players, filling in some of his dead points and making him a more complete champion. Second, we'd like to make him stronger in higher level play, adding some extra skill expression to Yorick and making him more resilient when faced with high-skill opponents. We're also doing some minor adjustments that make Yorick easier to re-tune in the future. More on that later. To make Yorick more self-sufficient and fill in gaps in his gameplay, we're pushing up his early game a ton and improving his fights outside of lane. More graves on minions you don't kill with Q, graves for simply whacking a champion or large/epic monster, simple numbers buffs to Q, and a new E debuff that Yorick himself can use, instead of only amplifying his Mist Walkers. On the skill expression side, we're making Yorick care more about his own output (again, Q buffs and E change) while also changing up the rules on Mist Walkers' health. Ultimately, they're more numerous and less damaging late game, but also more resilient to more types of damage, meaning that they can stand and fight against champions a bit more. There are a few bug fixes, especially for Mist Walkers. By changing his summons to care about Yorick's bonuses instead of total stats, any further adjustments to Yorick's base stats won't also affect all his summons, making it easier to have more focused changes in the future. For Maiden, the resulting health is essentially identical, while the other changes are intentionally nerfs in the late game.
Patch 15.6
Yorick
E damage to monsters decreased.
Yorick is currently overperforming in the jungle and putting camps and enemies into his graves, so we're pulling on one of his jungle damage levers in order to bring him more in line with other junglers.
Patch 15.5
Yorick
R monster damage cap decreased.
Yorick is extremely strong as a jungler, and moderately strong as a laner. We're targeting a nerf at his ability to quickly burn down camps and epic monsters with his ultimate active, which will have some impact on lane Yorick but mostly nerf his ability to speed clear as a jungler.
Patch 14.21
Yorick
Pet damage decreased.
Yorick is especially dominant in lower MMR play. It’d be nice if he wasn’t so reliant on his opponents failing to realize they can one-shot my ghouls with any basic attack, so we’re pulling back some Mist Walker damage to make him less reliant on their unreliable damage output.
Patch 14.5
Yorick
E bonus damage to cursed enemies decreased. R Maiden armor and magic resist increased, no longer reduces AoE damage by 50%, bugfix to Evasion interaction.
In her current state, the Maiden of the Mist is currently too tanky against some champions while simultaneously being too squishy into others. Our goal with these changes is to make facing Maiden a more consistent experience for opponents that find themselves matched up against her while also lowering Yorick's overall power which is currently just a tad over the line.
Patch 14.3
Yorick
Passive summon leash range decreased, summons now gain bonus movement speed when returning to Yorick. Q heal adjusted, mana cost decreased. E cast time decreased. R bonus damage when attacking Maiden’s target adjusted.
With a bunch of new items to play with we thought that now would be a good time to revitalize Yorick’s classic bruiser builds which should ultimately give him more durability to act as a front liner for his team. While we were at it, we also wanted to take the opportunity to smooth out his playing experience with minor adjustments to his summons.
Patch 13.5
Yorick
Bonus damage from Ghouls decreased.
This patch we’ll be nerfing Yorick's uninteractive blast-you-with-ghouls playstyle so that being caught by one E with lethality builds doesn't end your life. This should bring down the overall power of this frustrating playstyle, but we’ll be keeping an eye out to make sure Yorick isn’t completely underground after these changes.
Patch 12.12
Yorick
Mist Walker base health and move speed increased. Maiden of the Mist base health increased; target range based on E decreased.
Yorick's Mist Walkers and Maiden of the Mist are also getting a slight base stat package to help them keep up with the Durability Update. We're also adding a few tweaks to make Yorick's spectral army a bit more ghastly when positioned correctly. Namely, the Maiden won't wander too far when moving toward marked targets.
Patch 11.8
Yorick
Mist Walkers damage decreased. E initial leap damage decreased; now deals increased damage over 8 attacks. Turrets now prioritize minions over the Maiden.
Well, we did it. We woke Yorick up and brought him back to life… and right over the balance line. To mitigate, we’re following up his patch 11.6 buffs by walking back some of his damage—but we don’t want to leave him back in the dirt. So we’re also adding the second part of his intended changes to help his Maiden stay alive. Instead of constantly trying to keep her out of harm’s way, our premier split pusher can now focus on destroying turrets with his minions of the Mist.
Patch 11.7
Yorick
Marked enemy champions and large monsters now Awaken nearby graves. Mist Walkers now deal damage when they leap to enemies. E cast paradigm updated.
Yorick is usually able to crush his way through average play, but recently, he's fallen behind. In addition to his absence from higher-tier games, he has room for a buff to help him across levels of play, so we're taking a first pass by making his E more satisfying and effective. Coupled with some QoL adjustments, this should help our shepherd feel less wretched, while also evening out his performance in higher levels of play.
