Patch 15.18
Sylas
Passive damage to monsters decreased.
As players have gotten better at him, Sylas jungle has continued to rise up the ranks and now is more performant than we're comfortable with. Since we're happy with his power level in mid lane, we're simply walking back a portion of his prior jungle buffs.
Patch 15.16
Sylas
Passive now does bonus damage to monsters.
Sylas is a reasonably popular jungler, despite the fact that he isn’t really able to jungle effectively. To help the players that want to play him there we’re re-visiting his ability to clear the jungle by letting him whip his chains around and slay jungle camps.
Patch 14.22
Sylas
Health Growth decreased.
Sylas is now building more health, which we're happy about but he's a bit too strong right now. We're reducing his health growth to make him more vulnerable and to further incentivize health builds.
Patch 14.17
Sylas
W damage decreased.
After reshaping Sylas to have bonus health included in his kit we’ve seen him on an unfortunate rollercoaster ride. The last patch gave him back some much needed win rate and then some. With the added flat damage to his W, passive main target damage and survivability added with last patches changes, we think he has a little bit of room to be taken out of his guaranteed damage that should land him in a great spot.
Patch 14.16
Sylas
Base health increased. Passive damage increased. W damage increased.
After his recent changes, Sylas is in need of a little bit more power to get him into a good place. Now that players are building more health on him with items like Rod of Ages, Hextech Rocketbelt, and Cosmic Drive, we're making two changes that should help him thrive in more extended fights.
Patch 14.15
Sylas
Base Armor increased. Q cooldown and explosion damage decreased. W heal ratio changed, and damage decreased. E damage decreased.
We’re adjusting Sylas to function more like a skirmisher and less like an AP assassin. To that end, we’re lowering AP ratios while preserving base damages and lowering cooldowns, all of which pushes Sylas toward repeated casts (valuing Ability Haste and durability overall) instead of maximizing AP per slot. On top of that, we’re adding a bonus health ratio to W to further push him back to the HP-AP items he used to enjoy back when Mythics were a thing. Ideally, Sylas should be extremely good in smaller-numbered fights as his healing should make him scary in skirmishes, while his ult stealing should be what allows him to teamfight successfully.
Patch 14.8
Sylas
Q explosion damage to monsters increased.
We're further buffing Sylas jungle now that we have data on how his Q modifier affects his win rate, especially since we think he could appear at MSI as a flex pick. Since he lacks any room for mid lane oriented adjustments at the moment, we'll be completely removing the Q monster modifier, as his clear still has plenty of room to go down.
Patch 14.7
Sylas
Q monster damage increased.
Sylas jungle has been quite a weak link for him lately, but he has a playerbase that we'd like to support. Since he lacks any room mid, we’re separating his Q modifier to hasten his jungle clear. This change isn't intended to make Sylas a top tier jungler, but rather to make him more functional for those who play it. For now, we’re staying on the safer side for this initial buff and will revisit his jungle clear as needed.
Patch 13.16
Sylas
Base mana increased.
Regular Sylas players frequently run out of mana as they max W, whereas Pro Sylas's max Q. This buff is primarily intended to reduce how mana gated Sylas is in regular play, but it's also a change Pros will value due to it being a base stat increase.
Patch 12.17
Sylas
Base health decreased. Q cooldown increased.
Sylas is currently too reliable of a pick between the waveclear provided by his Q max builds and safety/engage options his E provides him in Pro play. We're looking to bring down his laning phase power with some targeted nerfs at his early waveclear and durability.
Patch 12.11
Sylas
W mana cost decreased, AP ratio for healing increased, cooldown decreased early. E cooldown decreased early.
With the Durability Update, Sylas has found himself unable to burst down opponents like he used to. While his burst has been nerfed, we actually aren’t planning on buffing it back to what it once was. Instead we want to give him back power in other meaningful ways. For now, we're buffing his versatility so he can find more ways to fight the system.
Patch 12.8
Sylas
R cooldown reduced.
Sylas has been a bit weak at all levels of play, so it's time to loosen his chains. Rather than buffing his lane, we're giving him more access to the most exciting and creative part of his kit, which should also make him better as a counterpick.
Patch 11.19
Sylas
Base mana and mana regen increased.
Our 11.15 nerfs to Sylas's Q and W restrained him more than intended. We're offering him back some power by easing up on his mana constraints in lane, allowing him to be more proactive with his spells earlier in the game.
Patch 11.15
Sylas
Q detonation damage increased. W heal decreased.
Sylas is a versatile dueler who does what he does a little too well—healing his way through fights, often swinging the battle to his advantage, often catching his opponents off guard. Although sustain is an important part of his kit, enemies should be able to find some kink in his armor. We’re moving some of his sustain power over to his chains so that he doesn’t swing fights as hard, but can still find success when he lands his less-reliable abilities.
Patch 11.6
Sylas
Passive Unshackled bonus attack speed increased. W cooldown, cost, and heal ratio decreased.
Sylas has been feeling underwhelming and boxed in, and he’s at a point where we feel comfortable breaking him out. Giving him more opportunities to slip, slap, and slash, without breaking the (healing) bank.
Patch 11.3
Sylas
Q cost flattened. W damage increased.
We're unshackling Sylas while also evening out his skill ranks.
