Recent changes
Patch 15.7
Q root duration increased at lower ranks.
Ivern is weak, especially in the early game. We're looking to buff up his ability to make early plays to make him more attractive as a pick especially for skilled players.
Patch 14.18
E shield strength and slow decreased.
Ivern’s actually much stronger than his solo queue win rates indicate, as players are typically not rushing Redemption, which is his best item. If you’d like to make up for these nerfs, simply switch from Moonstone and enjoy continued success! Beyond that, Ivern currently risks becoming the #1 pro jungler for Worlds, so we need to trim his power to keep him from overgrowing the competition. We’re nerfing his early ganking and dueling power which should specifically reduce his early game dominance in Elite and Pro play.
Patch 13.24
Base health decreased. E slow decreased.
Ivern remained unaffected when other junglers' clears were made slightly slower in patch 13.20. As a result, he's become one of the best junglers in the current game. We'd just like to take a small swing at his high base health in hopes of balancing him against other junglers and making him a bit more vulnerable to invades. Because Friend of the Forest's health cost is based on Ivern's base health, this change will have no impact on his ability to clear camps unless he gets directly damaged by his enemies. Beyond that, we're taking a small bite out of Triggerseed's slow as it locks down opponents a bit harder than we'd like, considering he has other harder-to-land crowd control abilities.
Patch 13.15
Magic resistance decreased. W ally on-hit damage increased. E shield strength adjusted. R Daisy! duration decreased, armor and MR decreased, health decreased, attack damage decreased.
Ivern has a unique place in League of Legends as an enchanter jungler and as such, we believe enchanter should be his primary build. His high-AP builds should be viable, but are currently significantly better than his supportive ones. Nerfs to his E AP ratio and buffs to its base shielding, nerfs to Daisy's AP ratio for bonus AD (we do not think Daisy should be able to duke it out with other champs 1v1), and buffs to his teammate-amping W should shift his builds and playstyle toward supportive options and away from Night Harvester. In addition, Ivern is simply overpowered. Along with the above changes, his Magic Resist is being re-tuned to that of a ranged champion and Daisy's duration is shortened to match Tibbers. 45 seconds is still enough time to be worth micromanaging her out of harm's way but will typically keep her from having 100% uptime. Finally, Daisy’s overall durability is being shifted for two reasons: First, Smite will no longer deal high damage to pets, which necessitates nerfing her durability somewhat. Second, her durability is being shifted from rank-based to champion-level-based. This is because the game state at level 6 is very different from the game state at level 10, yet pets rarely have meaningful differences in durability between those two points in time.
Patch 13.13
W on-hit magic damage decreased. R Daisy! movement speed decreased, Slam! base damage decreased.
Ivern has been taking root across all skill levels after his 13.11 updates which have resulted in one terrifying tree that makes Maokai look like a Meowkai. We feel that his ability to poke down targets at a safe distance and chase down enemies with Daisy are out of line, so we're pulling back on some of Daisy's damage and mobility while also toning down the on-hit damage he gains from Brushmaker.
Patch 13.11
Q follow up adjusted, cast range increased, now refunds cooldown when used on non-Epic monsters. W adjusted, now gives allies bonus on-hit damage, vision from spawn duration increased, brush despawn conditions changed. E shield now refreshes if no enemies were hit by the detonation. Daisy stats adjusted, Slam! Damage increased.
With buff sharing becoming a part of the game this patch, we wanted to offer Ivern some buffs to the rest of his kit in exchange for removing his unique mechanic. Overall these changes shouldn't be too transformative, but his base spells should feel better in almost every situation they're cast in. Ivern’s Q will be able to reach between most camps on both sides of the map, and Daisy should feel a lot more responsive with faster attacks and move speed! If you go through the change list, you’ll quickly realize that this isn’t the midscope we promised for Ivern. The reason we’ve decided to not give Ivern a midscope this patch is because player feedback around our proposed midscope was indicating we were on the wrong track, and internally we just didn’t feel like the designs were hitting the quality bar to ship. So for now, we’re offering Ivern some buffs that will help him become a healthier tree until he’s ready for a transplant.
Patch 12.12
Passive health and mana costs reduced. E base shield increased. Daisy base health, armor, and MR increased.
The Durability Update wasn't so friendly to our friend of the forest. These buffs should return some of his early gank power by a lot. Oh, and Daisy gets a base stat gift, too!
Patch 11.24
Krug experience and gold rewards increased.
Ivern loves all of his forest friends equally, but when push comes to shove, freeing the Krugs isn't really worth the effort. Krugs give significantly less gold and experience than the other small jungle camps, even though it takes Ivern the same amount of time, mana, and health to free them. (This oughta teach 'em how to say thanks!)
Patch 11.14
E base shield increased later.
With patch 11.13’s nerf to Shurelya’s Battlesong and the popularity of a certain snake's tooth, Ivern has felt weaker in the jungle. We’re returning the shield power that he lost in 11.3 so that he can protect his friends (and the forest) a little better.
Patch 11.7
E base damage decreased later.
With Daisy's bugfix in 11.6 and its subsequent boost in damage, everything's been coming up roses for Ivern. We're cutting down his mid-game damage so that when he's able to snowball, his enemies aren't completely rolled over.
Patch 11.3
Base health growth decreased. E shield decreased later.
While it's great to see Ivern wunder-ing around outside of his usual home, he's still too effective meandering around the jungle. We can't beat around the bush any longer-we're pulling back some of his safety and shielding power.
Patch 11.2
E shield ratio decreased.
The nerf to Triggerseed’s AP ratio in patch 11.1 was only reflected in Ivern’s tooltips. We fixed it so it actually affects his shield now (oops).
