Patch 16.3
Vi certainly does not stand for victory anywhere but pro play. We'd like to make her much more successful for the average League player without indexing too hard into her strengths in tightly coordinated environments, which means we're aiming to play up her self-sufficiency and long-term brawling.
Patch 15.13
Passive shield decreased.
Last patch’s rank-up adjustments significantly increased her overall win rate due to aligning ability incentives with what the majority of her players were already doing. Now that that misalignment’s been solved, we’re back to nerf her out of the #1 jungle slot at MSI this year. Vi's shield durability has historically been one of her most pro skewed levers, as the shield isn't always chewed through in 1v1s that are more likely to happen, as opposed to the more teamfighty nature of pro. Our hope is that the combination of these last few patches leaves Vi at a similar place for regular players while having reduced pro presence.
Patch 15.12
W damage adjusted, bonus attack speed decreased. E damage adjusted.
Vi is in an awkward spot right now where her win rate compared to her pro presence are extremely out of line with one another. Part of this disparity can be explained by an unintuitive skill order, where it’s optimal for Vi to max W second. This patch we’re looking to make fairly power neutral changes that bring E-max and W-max into more similar power levels.
Patch 15.10
Q minimum damage decreased, max damage increased. R Mana cost reduced, damage decreased.
Vi has become a somewhat stale jungle presence and is expressing her power largely in reliably one-shotting an opposing squishy in the late game with little room for counter-play. We'd like to re-add some variance in her gameplay without making her strictly weaker in the average case.
Patch 14.22
Passive Shield increased.
Vi is looking a bit worse for wear and doesn't perform her duties in the front line as well as she should. We're bumping her durability specifically by nudging up Blast Shield to reward her for sustained combat since she can refresh it more than once.

Q damage decreased.
We buffed Vi a few patches ago and while she can really use the power in solo queue, we’re being really pro focused in this specific patch and unfortunately she’s crowding out every other fighter jungler in Pro play. So for now we’re pulling back on her recent Q buff in order to give other fighters more room to shine at Worlds this year.

Q damage increased.
Historically Vi has been a champion that, even if appropriately balanced, found herself in Pro play jail (oh the irony). These changes are intended to give her a little bit of power back without landing her in the slammer. Q - Vault Breaker
Patch 13.17
Passive shield health scaling increased. W cooldown reduction increased. E cooldown decreased. R damage decreased.
Vi has certainly been on a bit of a balance rollercoaster this year. Right now she’s in a very weak spot for solo queue play and the 13.13 nerfs removed most of her Pro presence. What we’re trying to do with Vi is steer her into mid-sized fighter builds and away from building either full tank or full assassin. To that end, we’re increasing the value of her using basic attacks and W as a primary tanking tool. Her E change should make it less important to max the ability, meaning players can move into maxing W second instead and the R nerf is aimed to have a bit more impact in Pro play than solo queue.
Patch 13.13
Passive shield decreased. R cooldown increased.
Vi has had the highest Pro presence out of any Champion this season. This is in part due to her having very reliable CC with her ultimate which is especially beneficial in coordinated Pro play. We're nerfing her R cooldown to reduce its uptime while maintaining its power when casted correctly. We're also reducing the shield scaling on her passive to nerf her durability. This will reduce her synergy with Radiant Virtue, which Pros purchase virtually every game on Vi, whereas in solo queue it has a much lower purchase rate.
Patch 13.7
Q base damage decreased, AD ratio increased. E base damage decreased, AD ratio increased, AP ratio increased.
Vi is currently beating up the pro play scene thanks to her ability to build tanky and still deal large amounts of damage. Our goal with these changes is to bring the damage down on her tankier builds and shift that power into AD ratios to reward those Vi AD stackers out there.
Patch 11.22
Q and R improvements for consistency.
Vi could use some modernization to keep up with her sister, so we’re fixing some of the inconsistencies with how she acquires and CCs targets. These changes will enable Vi to reliably hit enemies she flashes on top of during her Q dash as well as knockup (and knockback) targets more consistently. Only the finest for Piltover's finest.
