Patch 16.3
Jayce
Jayce's build has bounced around a lot over time. He's been a tank, he's been (and currently is) a lethality burst mage, and he's been a fighter. We'd like if Jayce were an AD fighter, caring about both his damage output and durability to stick it out in melee once in a while. He's also still better in the jungle than in the top lane after last patch's nerf, so we're here to re-visit him. Ultimately our goals for Viktor's better half are to give him a viable fighter build and a viable but not overbearing jungle role. To achieve these goals, we're reducing his reliance on bonus AD and shifting power from his poke into his melee damage and follow-up.
Patch 16.2
Jayce
Jayce jungle (AKA Jungle Jayce) has become extremely popular and is also much too strong. One of those two things is awesome and the other isn’t. We’d like to retain JJ as a viable option in the jungle, but without him dominating the competition. So we’re delivering a light nerf that’s intended to bring him more in line with other junglers.
Patch 15.23
Jayce
We think Jayce jungle is a bit of a longshot but there's a chance he's got a real player base in this new role, so we're delivering some buffs to make his first clear more comfortable and watching to see how many players are interested.
Patch 15.18
Jayce
Q damage increased.
Piltover's poster boy hasn't been defending tomorrow very well lately, and has seen little presence in pro play despite the top lane meta being one he should thrive in. To help him out a bit we're going to give him a high skill skewed buff to make his shock blasts all the more... shocking.
Patch 15.4
Jayce
W attack speed increased.
We've got a pretty straight forward change for Jayce this patch. Last patch when we raised the attack speed cap, we missed increasing his W to match, so we're back to right that wrong.
Patch 15.3
Jayce
Q damage decreased in both forms. W damage decreased. R damage decreased.
Tank Jayce is over present in pro play and players haven’t been happy to see him played as a tank. Over time a lot of Jayce’s buffs have been base damage increases, so we’re pulling those back and giving compensation buffs to AD ratios on all of his primary damage sources. This should be power neutral for AD Jayce but ultimately a nerf across the board for any Jayce that isn’t building AD.
Patch 14.18
Jayce
Q slow increased. E bonus movement speed increased.
In a world full of ranged AD mids, somehow Jayce hasn’t made an entrance on the professional stage. The fact that we’re not seeing him almost at all plus some pretty poor solo queue win rates means we’re pretty confident a certain anime protagonist hasn’t shone(n) as brightly as he’s meant to. His damage is already in a pretty good spot after his recent buffs, so we’re taking a look at his utility to give him more to do than just kill everything.
Patch 14.14
Jayce
Cannon form Q damage increased.
Jayce is struggling at the moment, and while his less common melee form has gotten a lot of the more recent love, it's now time to up the damage of his primary skill, his ranged Q.
Patch 14.4
Jayce
Base AD increased. W mana restoration increased and magic damage increased. E now roots enemies on initial cast.
Jayce's E sometimes suffered from a weird effect, occasionally throwing players in an odd direction when cast during an opponent's dash. To resolve this, we adjusted it to work more like Lee Sin's R, now rooting on cast. This also means it will no longer knock enemies outside of auto attack range when cast at max range. Additionally, we're looking to flatten Jayce's power curve slightly, giving him a bit more agency (and mana) to skirmish in lane. This should make him less dependent on Muramana and make early mana runes feel more valuable.
Patch 13.1
Jayce
Base AD increased. Q (Hammer Form) base damage increased. W (Hammer Form) damage increased.
Jayce has been keeping his distance recently. Mostly because he’s always in his cannon form due to its many advantages over the weaker hammer form. In order to help balance out his stances we’re buffing up the hammer form to give Jayce the opportunity to have more of those cool Arcane fight scenes.
Patch 12.20
Jayce
W mana restoration increased. R bonus magic resist and armor now scales with bonus attack damage.
As a late game Jayce, it can be a little scary to swap to your hammer and jump straight into the enemy team. We're giving him some small buffs to his durability in the late game and giving him some more tools to play with in his hammer form.
Patch 12.16
Jayce
Hammer form Q damage increased. Hammer form E damage based on target’s maximum health increased.
Jayce’s melee form hasn’t been the shining innovation of Piltover (or his kit) it once was. We’re putting some more Hextech power into his hammer by increasing its damage output so that it remains a viable tool for Jayce, even in later stages of the game.
Patch 12.7
Jayce
Base health, health growth, and armor adjusted.
Jayce has also been a popular pick in Pro. We're lowering his laning power by making him squishier early on, but increasing his growth to make sure he still scales to late game.
Patch 11.18
Jayce
Passive duration decreased.
Jayce is an all-around power slam in highly skilled hands. Rather than reduce his wattage damage output, we're turning down his ability to outrun ganks and quickly traverse the map, both of which are particularly useful for the Pro scene.
