Aurelion Sol
While Aurelion Sol can still be a menace in the late game (deliberately so), we don’t think his early game needs to be quite as painful as it currently is so we’re giving him better early trades and generally improving his ability to dodge skill shots and navigate fights. His W is based on his underlying move speed, so this move speed buff helps his flying, too.

Asol is a bit too strong at the moment and could use being brought down to earth. As a scaler who reaches high heights late game, wanting to push on his early game where he’s supposed to be vulnerable so that players are correctly weak and paying the appropriate cost for the stardust scaling. Meanwhile, Singularity’s nerf is intended to disproportionately affect low MMR games, where he currently performs best.

Aurelion Sol’s changes last patch ended up making him stronger than we wanted to, so we’re addressing that boost in power with some direct nerfs that ensure he doesn’t spike too hard too quickly, relying on stacking under duress to reach his maximal star dragon heights.

In his current state, a lot of Aurelion Sol's power is tied up in his ability to bully lane opponents by tapping his Q, especially in higher skill brackets. Not only is this unintuitive, but it also doesn't feel like a breath of light as much as it does a burp. We'll be addressing this by shifting some of this power from his Q into more interesting and engaging parts of his kit like his Astral Flight and Singularity.

Aurelion Sol is still performing too well and we've decided to reduce some more of his power. He now gets more stacks from Q, both because the stack gain was increased and also because he can cast it more frequently due to the potent mana buffs. We'd like to retain how well it stacks and scales with Stardust, but nerf its AP ratio and some base damage to account for that.

Aurelion Sol's itemization is less than stellar now that Liandry's no longer provides him with mana alongside the removal of Crown of the Shattered Queen. On top of his high mana costs, Aurelion Sol has largely been opting for passive and reactive playstyles rather than proactive ones. We believe that a world where the majority of his stacks are coming from proactive player combat and trading instead of stalling and passive farming is both more fun for Aurelion Sol and healthier for the game as a whole, because he has to take risks to scale. So we are adjusting his mana costs to allow him to be more proactive in lane and going forward will balance him around his more Q+W-driven stacking gameplay.

Q damage decreased.
Aurelion Sol was a big winner last patch as snowballing was reduced and as a result, this late-game scaling mage found himself winning many more games. In an effort to rein him in, we'll be nerfing him by targeting his late-game scaling. Since this comes automatically as opposed to being earned by farming stacks or buying ability power, this should tie his late game power more to his early game performance.

E mana cost increased, magic damage AP ratio decreased.
Mages as a whole got a small power increase from the changes in patch 13.10, including the already powerful ones. Our friendly space dragon was already sitting above the stars, so we have a few changes to bring him down to earth. We’re making his Singularity cost more mana in the early laning phase to help opponents delay his farming while also lessening how much damage the spell does due to its incredibly good utility scaling.

Legend has it that Aurelion Sol is still scaling, especially in non-elite tiers of play, so we need to bring this space dragon down to Earth (Runeterra?). We want to maintain Aurelion Sol’s current damage levels, but these changes should balance out his damage with squishiness, leaning into him being more of a glass dragon.

Aurelion Sol is getting a lot of attention, both positive and negative—which he's pretty used to given the gravity of his stellar personality. We're aiming to lessen the frustrating moments he can create like his ability to stall/freeze waves for extended periods of time and reduce the potency of his teamfight wombo combo.

Aurelion Sol’s made quite the impact with his CGU and we’re glad that so many of you have been excited to try him out! While he’s sitting at a relatively healthy spot in higher level play, his performance at lower skill levels is a bit too powerful. These nerfs should help curb his power just a bit to help address this skill skew.
