Kalista and her players have been patiently awaiting buffs, and we're also ready to see her unleash her wrath once again. This change is aimed at making her hit harder when she finds an opening to stack up her spears.

Kalista
Kalista has been underperforming for quite a while now and we'd like to carve out some mid-game strength for her. We're hoping to achieve that by increasing her attack damage growth, which directly feeds into her attacks as well as her Q and E damage.

Kalista has finally fallen off of the pro play radar, which gives us room to buff her back up for everyone else. We’re steering clear of her first 3 levels, as her former extreme lane dominance is what caused her woes in the first place. Instead, we’re buffing her late laning phase, second item power spike, and beyond in hopes of giving her a fighting chance in solo queue while giving her opponents a fighting chance in lane. While AP may seem like an odd buff, it represents an additional 9-13.5 damage per Rend stack due to Rageblade’s 30 AP. Also, remember that the recent Blade of the Ruined King buff was meaningful for her as well, so if it’s been a while since you last played Kalista, give her a try!

Kalista’s high mobility and trading makes her a fearsome lane opponent. And while we love that about her, we’re looking to reduce some of that strength so pro players have more options than just to pick or ban her every game.

Kalista is experiencing a very high ban rate in Pro due to a strong early game and the ability to enable her support pairings. These changes are targeted to significantly reduce her early game strength, while granting some compensation to her power level throughout the game.

W damage decreased early.
Kalista's changes at the start of the year succeeded in making her quite a bit nicer to play, but she's a bit overpowered right now whether you're a pro player or have simply learned how to play this difficult markswoman. Since most players haven't mastered Kalista's high skill curve, we're opting to be more pro-focused with this nerf, so we're hitting her Soul-Marked damage as an attempt to focus on that tier of play while leaving your average Kalista player relatively untouched.

Dashes are now more resilient to slows. Mana regeneration increased. Q damage and mana cost nerfed. E damage decreased early.
Similar to Ashe's changes above, we'd like to reduce some of Kalista's extremely high level 1-3 power while also giving her something for Kalista players to be excited about. On the nerf side of things, we're reducing her ability to Q-E poke by nerfing Pierce's base damage and mana cost, while also nerfing her all-in power by nerfing the first few ranks of Rend's bonus damage on multiple stacks. On the buff side of things, we've rebuilt Martial Poise's logic for dash speed. Kalista's dash speed calculation is a complicated beast that factors in her attacks per second, bonus attack speed, dash distance, and movement speed modifiers, plus some extra nudging to keep it from going too slow. Those calculations now favor Kalista in more situations: It partially ignores attack speed slows, doesn't put as much weight into movement speed slows, and now gets faster with bonus movement speed. The result is that her dashes are slightly slower in the very early game, slightly faster late game, and much faster when affected by high-potency slows. We've also given her a bit of late-game mana regen to make her a little easier for novice Kalistas who don't refund her mana costs with Rend very well.

Kalista's win rates are roughly appropriate considering she's harder to play than the average ADC but she's also been a top-tier Pro threat all year long. As she's getting pretty stale in the Pro scene, we're delivering some nerfs that we hope will disproportionately affect Pro play. We're toning down her coordination-reliant pieces and clarifying the special rules of her W by removing some of them and adding the rest to the tooltip. We're also doing a small pass on recommended runes, updating a few that appear to have better alternatives.

Now that much of the Season Start dust has settled, Kalista has found herself as one of the premier bot laners in Pro play and we'd like to open that role up to a bit more variety. Also, she's receiving a meaningful bugfix this patch, so we're also compensating for that bit of extra power.

Base health increased, health regeneration increased, attack damage decreased. Passive vision interaction adjusted, on-hit damage increased. Q damage increased. E cooldown decreased, damage adjusted.
Kalista’s auto attacks are feeling weak at the moment due to the 90% total AD ratio and missing during vision loss. We noticed that Kalista was really hurting after 13.10, so we're targeting some pretty large buffs aimed at usability and durability for her. The changes to base AD, Q, and E keep her damage output roughly equal to before.

Kalista is the second champion in this patch who has no AP ratios but is likely to buy Rageblade. The numbers are relatively conservative so an AP-focused build isn’t going to be strong, but at least the Amplifying Tome is a real item for her.

Attack damage growth increased. Passive ceremony duration decreased, Kalista now forced to channel.
Kalista has frequently been a pro-bound champion but hasn't seen much play so far this year. So we're being very cautious with giving her some power heading into the Mid-Season Invitational. Additionally, some tweaks to her Oathsworn Bond ceremony should let the two of you get onto the Rift a bit sooner than before, which isn't meant to be a significant change in power per say, but should still feel better.

Kalista's been a popular Pro pick for quite some time now due to her overwhelmingly dominant laning phase. We're making her a bit more punishable in lane in situations where she overcommits early on.

Kalista has been dominating the bot lane in professional play recently as a powerful early game pick. We’re bringing down her damage a tad in order to make her a little less oppressive in the very early stages of the game.
