Patch 16.4
Aphelios
Even after our hotfix nerfs in 26.1, Aphelios remains as one of the most dominant marksmen in the game. We're lowering his damage to make him a little less powerful at all stages of the game.
Patch 16.1
Aphelios
Aphelios has a lot of intricacies and some of his abilities try to behave exactly like basic attacks. With that in mind, we're converting Severum's active to total attack damage in line with similar abilities and generally lowering the bonus AD ratios of several abilities that already scale well due to firing off basic attacks that can crit as part of their cast.
Patch 15.12
Aphelios
Level 1 attack speed increased. Severum movement speed increased. Calibrum damage increased.
Aphelios is doing alright in terms of power right now, but he hasn’t quite made the leap into pro play. We’re giving him a few small pro-skewed buffs to build some more faith in the weapon of the faithful himself.
Patch 15.5
Aphelios
Attack Speed ratio increased.
Aphelios isn't critically weak, but his current builds mostly focus on spell-based outputs and not his actual attacks. We're buffing up his attack speed ratio to make investing in attack speed on Aphelios a bit more rewarding.
Patch 14.20
Aphelios
Base health increased. Passive bonus AD increased.
Aphelios was hurt by Collector’s nerfs last patch and is in need of some assistance. Not only is Collector getting some help, but Aphelios is also getting some direct buffs this patch to bring him up to snuff. We’re delivering a small mix of damage and durability to his early game while still maintaining him as a late-game carry.
Patch 14.14
Aphelios
Binding Eclipse, Sentry, and Onslaught damage increased.
Aphelios is definitely weaker than he should be at the moment, so we're bumping up the punch of his weaker guns whose actives don't feel as impactful unless they're part of specific combos.
Patch 13.13
Aphelios
Severum life steal decreased. Gravitum slow duration decreased. Crescendum base attack speed decreased.
Aphelios is the #1 bot laner in pro play by a long shot and has been a top performer since March. As such, we want to act in order to create more variety in the bottom lane. We know it sucks for players at home to catch strays like this, but he’s still in a much stronger spot than he was at the start of the year. This time around, we’re targeting some of his biggest ability outliers that provide frustrating levels of power: His turret deals too much DPS for a basic ability, Infernum Q provides him best-in-class sustain by a large margin, and Gravitum’s gank setup is very high for a basic ability.
Patch 13.11
Aphelios
Passive bonus AD decreased.
Since Aphelios typically likes to spec into AD early, he’s able to leverage the extra damage to dominate early laning which feels a little odd considering he’s more of the scaling silent type. This should help make laning against him a bit easier for opponents.
Patch 13.4
Aphelios
Passive bonus attack speed increased.
Aphelios’ big brain doesn't have quite enough wrinkles to find wins in solo queue nor enough fans in pro play. As such, Aphelios is receiving some relatively simple buffs. The choice of attack speed on his W rank up is to make the choice between attack speed and lethality a tight one, giving smart players one more avenue for optimizing their damage.
Patch 12.11
Aphelios
Passive attack speed and Lethality with rank up increased.
Aphelios has been very weak this patch, and he didn’t get much help from the Durability Update. We're buffing up his passive to help add a little more fire moon power to his guns.
Patch 11.18
Aphelios
Base attack damage decreased.
Aphelios' early game is very consistent right now, which explains his elevated presence in Pro play recently. We're nerfing his laning phase to make it harder for him to get to his first item and scale. Uh, something something moonstones.
Patch 11.13
Aphelios
Passive bonus damage and lethality increased.
Our 11.12 buffs to Aphelios steered him in the right direction, but cost him more power in Elite play than we’d hoped, leaving him weaker overall. This means he could use another push forward, so we’re adding some oomph to benefit all players across skill levels by boosting his less popular rankups.
Patch 11.12
Aphelios
Base magic resist and AD growth increased. Severum’s maximum number of attacks decreased; on-hit damage increased; healing from basic attacks decreased; healing from abilities increased. Crescendum’s mini Chakram damage decreased; sentry damage increased.
Aphelios’ changelist is a whole lot of numbers, so we’ll try and break it down. First and foremost: yes, it’s an Aphelios buff! He’s been in a slump in terms of win rate and Pro presence, and could use a helping hand to get back on his feet. To do this, we’re buffing his base stats and weapon combinations that have fallen out of favor, while pulling power from the combos that have emerged as clear favorites. By upping the reward he gets from using Infernum and Severum as off-hand weapons, he should feel more well-rounded and prepared to take down his enemies, no matter what’s in his immediate arsenal.
Patch 11.8
Aphelios
Passive lethality increased. R main weapon effects strengthened.
Aphelios has been looking pale ever since we nerfed his interaction with Kraken Slayer in 11.2. Given how he’s fallen behind other scaling marksmen, we're putting more punch into his lethality rank-ups (which have been historically lackluster), along with his weapon effects during his ultimate, to let him reach for the moon.
