Volibear
Volibear's last set of nerfs were effective at hitting jungle harder than top, but ended up a bit over the line still. We're aiming to make laning a bit more satisfying for top Volibear with mana changes, and still trying to open up some bruiser builds so it's not always wizard bear.

Volibear
We're happy that Volibear is seeing action at all levels with a new build as our signature garage sale enjoyer, but we want to make sure he's a little less overBearing, primarily in jungle. We're targeting his main build path's Q max burst without changing how it feels to get into combat, as well as his clear speed so that he has to work a little harder to show up to fights, and compensating with some AD ratio for anyone who's gotten a good deal on a Triforce or Gunblade recently.

Volibear's last patch succeeded in addressing his jungle-vs-top gap but left him a little weaker than we wanted across both roles. We're here to deliver him some more power to our favorite Zilean-hating demigod. We chose attack damage here to ensure that as a moderate-mobility melee champion, his attacks are appropriately threatening

Volibear
As the dust has settled from Volibear’s recent changes, his AD and AP builds are much closer in power and we believe jungle Volibear to be appropriately strong. That said, top lane Volibear is currently quite weak. To help him out we’re delivering some changes that’re intended to keep jungle Voli at about the same power level but substantially buff up top lane.

Volibear
Volibear's been one of the strongest junglers in solo queue for a while now, so in this patch we're looking to bring his (ability) power down a notch. His ability to synergize with cooldown reduction has allowed him to sustain through most situations while still dealing a respectable amount of DPS. We're okay with his sustain, but to bring his DPS down just a tad we're hitting his AP ratios which should weaken some of his most popular builds while leaving his AD builds untouched.

Volibear has clawed his way to the top of the ranks of junglers as the rest of them were brutally wounded by nerfs in the last hunt. While it's acceptable for this thunder god to be potent, his current strength is just a bit too thunderous. As such we're tapping down his AP Ratio on his passive, which should make his first item power spike less electrifying.

Volibear is cool, but building AD on him is clearly worse than AP or tank. Trying to bring AD builds up to match the others in a way that rewards sustained combat, not exclusively bursting people.

E cooldown increased.
Volibear has been strong for a while and we're finally nerfing him. His Rod of Ages + Navori build is really interesting and unique, but his cooldowns aren't tuned around this newfound CDR access. We’re targeting his E as the frequent shielding and max health damage make him quite hard to deal with.

Volibear
R cooldown increased.
While we deeply love the bear (Editor add, not designer note), he’s still been a bit too much of a menace in Solo Queue and we’re not seeing that slow down much despite the previous nerfs. First, we’re removing an expectation-breaking interaction between his Q and Sundered Sky, which was granting him extremely large amounts of burst damage. Second, we think he needs a little bit more siphoned off and we feel like the bear enjoyers out there value the move speed from his Q more so than the frequency of the R so we want to pull back some of that previous R cooldown buff that we gave him.

Q bonus movement speed decreased. R cooldown increased.
Volibear jungle is currently performing too well after our recent buffs and we’re back this patch to rein him in a bit. We’ll be walking back on some of the Q bonus movement speed and R cooldown buffs, but overall ensuring they’re still meaningfully stronger than before.

Q bonus movement speed increased. E cooldown decreased. R turret disable duration decreased, cooldown decreased, crowd control resistances during leap adjusted.
Volibear is struggling and we'll be helping him out. We think that his R is a supremely cool moment for Volibear players, but the ability to disable turrets can remove his opponents' access to counterplay. In order to give Voli players more agency and more frequent access to his ultimate, we're trading some of his turret disabling power and CC immunity for a cooldown decrease. We're also including a Q movement speed buff so he can reach his targets more consistently, and a slight E cooldown buff for the magic wizard bears out there.

Passive AP scaling increased. Q QoL change. W heal increased.
Volibear buffs! Wizard bear is a relatively popular, yet underpowered Volibear build, and the champion is underperforming in top lane overall. So we’re giving him some simple buffs aimed at making both builds scale better in order to help Voli become a beary scary carry.

Volibear is sitting at a below average power level when compared to other top laners. So we’re reverting some of the previous health ratio nerfs in order to help him out in all levels of play while avoiding making his laning more frustrating for opponents.

Q bonus movement speed decreased, base damage decreased. W base damage decreased, scaling with bonus health decreased. E damage based on target’s max health decreased, damage cap against non-champions decreased.
Volibear has been much too strong recently, especially in the jungle. We’re pulling power away from some of his stronger jungling tools, like his reliable ganks and extra damage against high-health objectives like Baron and Dragon. We’re also lowering his damage across the board so he doesn’t do quite as much when he opts to itemize tank.

The once-fearsome Volibear is bad for everyone, everywhere. We're giving him a reliable baseline stat buff and more access to his signature stormy skill.

W healing from monsters is no longer halved. E capped damage now flat.
There have been reports of bears, horses, and deer running amok in the jungle, but after thorough investigation, Volibear has been deemed innocent of all jungle gap wrongdoing. If anything, he's been the victim. We're waking him out of his jungle hibernation to enjoy the new season.
